Earlier this year, on May 23, Parkstadactueel already reported on this emerging rock sensation from Finland. They performed on May 21 at Club Volta in Cologne as the opening act for Cyan Kicks.
On Friday evening, October 20, the band could be seen in our own Heerlen. In the small hall of the Nieuwe Nor music venue in Heerlen, Moon Shot had the opportunity to open for The New Roses. The band consists of lead singer Ville Malja, bassist Henkka Seppälä, guitarist Jussi Ylikoski, and drummer Mikko Hakila, with live support from Jesse Kataja.
Although Moon Shot is still a relatively new band, all the members have already gained considerable experience in other successful collaborations, and you can feel it in their performance. Moon Shot is definitely a recommendation for rock enthusiasts interested in new bands and 21st-century rock music. As an opening act, the challenge often lies in engaging and warming up the main act's fans for the rest of the evening. And that's something you can certainly entrust to Ville and his band.
With a lot of energy, Ville lit up the stage on Friday evening and delivered catchy sing-alongs to the audience. Almost all the songs from their first album "Confession" were played, as well as their latest single "Yes."
"Yes" is a song that perfectly fits the current zeitgeist and world, with lyrics like "I see too many fingers on too many triggers." In short, great music with meaningful lyrics.Ville Malja and his band never stand still, and the stage is actually too small for all the energy of "Moon Shot."
Perhaps the only downside of the evening was the turnout. It was fine for the small Nieuwe Nor hall, but both this band and the main act "The New Roses" truly deserve a bigger stage and a larger audience. Currently, "Moon Shot" is working on their second album, scheduled for release in the spring of 2024. Maybe then it will be time for a bigger stage and turnout for Moon Shot!"
